During summer, it is too hot to sleep or sit inside a tent on the hot South Beach. It is better to use a sleeping bag without pitching a tent. Usually, it is too hot to sleep in a tent during summer. You already know that Aqaba is a tremendously hot city in summer.
I still saw some tents on Aqaba South Beach. One of them belonged to a guy who was permanently working on the beach renting snorkeling equipment. Thus, if you want to pitch a tent on South Beach, you can do it for absolutely free.
IS SWIMMING IN THE RED SEA SAFE
Swimming in the Red Sea is safe if you follow certain rules. First, the sea is filled with sea urchins. Stepping on one of them would be a real problem. You will definitely hurt your feet. Also, it is bad to disturb sea dwellers. The Red Sea is their home, and we are temporary guests in its waters. Therefore, it is better to be more careful while swimming in the sea. Here are some of my top safety tips on how to swim in the Red Sea.
WEAR WATER SHOES IN THE RED SEA
Wearing aqua shoes is the best thing you can do to prevent yourself from injuring your feet in the sea. I was snorkeling in the Red Sea and I can assure you that there are loads of sea urchins in the water. Without aqua shoes, you will almost certainly injure your feet.
WEAR SWIMMING GOGGLES
The Red Sea is famous for its picturesque diving and snorkeling spots. It means that the sea is packed with coral reefs. From my experience, I can tell you that it is quite easy to injure yourself in such an environment. Sometimes, you are swimming in the sea, and suddenly, you hurt your leg or feet on a coral reef. The reefs are treacherous and they can even cut your skin and give you more serious injuries.
With swimming goggles, you will be aware of your environment. You will know where and when you should be more careful with your movements. Swimming goggles will let you avoid injuries.
Apart from sea urchins and coral reefs, swimming in the Red Sea is completely safe. The sea is very calm and there aren't even slight waves in the sea.
IS SOUTH BEACH IN AQABA SAFE
Aqaba South Beach is one of the safest beaches in the world. While staying on the beach, I saw police patrol cars every 15 minutes. The police patrols the beach day and night. It is safer than your own flat.
Relaxing on South Beach in Aqaba
I was having a conversation with a policeman from Aqaba. He told me that narcotic drugs are the main problem in Aqaba. The man also told me that Syrians are the main drug dealers in Aqaba. This is why Syrians are officially prohibited from entering Aqaba.
South Beach is very safe. I haven't seen even a single person with suspicious behavior or appearance. Days and nights, you can stay on the beach and be sure that nobody will harm you.
BEST TIME TO VISIT SOUTH BEACH IN AQABA
Summer is definitely the best time to visit South Beach. In June, even though the temperature was 45 degrees Celsius, the water in the sea was still not warm enough. I think that the best time to swim in the Red Sea is in July and August.
Early autumn is also a good time to visit South Beach in Aqaba. The scorching hot sun will be more merciful to you in autumn. At the same time, the water in the sea will be warm enough for comfortable swimming.
MY HONEST OPINION
South Beach in Aqaba is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It has crystally clean sand and the beautiful sea. Apart from swimming and relaxing on the beach, this place is a paradise for divers and those who enjoy snorkeling.
The beach is free and this factor adds more points to this wonderful place. The main disadvantage of the beach is the lack of cheap food markets. However, this small issue can be eliminated by getting food supplies from Aqaba city center which isn't far away.
